Been very busy at work recently. Working full time at CN Tower during the summer is not only fun but it also takes a lot of time away from me to take photos around the city. But rest assured, I got lots of photos already in the bag for you guys ready to be shared! Currently working on the next batch of the Beautiful Toronto Project and should be up in a few days. There is a constant flow of new photos in my collection so for sure we are not going to have any shortage of summer fun photos! Until next time, keep chillin'!

Victoria College Building
Hello Everyone!

It's been over a month since the last time I posted something new to this site. You can blame my new summer job at Toronto's CN Tower hehe. Well, even though I've been very busy at work, I still managed to walk around the city with trusty camera and snap some interesting photos for you! Actually, this latest addition in the website was taken a month ago before I started working and just didn't get the chance to upload them. So here they are! The photos this time around are photos from the University of Toronto again but I concentrated on the eastern side of the Campus where most of the Victorian style buildings are located. Alright that's that! You can click the photo above to see the newest photos in my collection. And you may also play the video below to see the photo slideshow of the newest photos made for YouTube. =D Even though I'm busy pictures are still continually being taken and edited by yours truly. In fact, there is already another batch of photos just waiting to be edited and shared to you guys. And don't forget that I will also be putting a new Set in the website called "Toronto from the Skies" which will have different photos of the city from the top of the Tallest Tower in the World, the CN Tower! =D Stay tuned! And Enjoy my newest photos!

Cheers,
Angelo Maralit

After months of searching in the internet I finally found a Canon EF 35mm f/2 lens used and for a really good price! Yeah, I'm not rich so I can't really buy lens from stores, they're just too expensive! The lens came with an official lens hood from Canon and a Tiffen UV filter. The entire package for $300. A pretty sweet deal when you consider the price of the items I got individually in retail stores. I haven't used the lens fully yet but I know I'm going to have a lot of fun shooting with this photo. When mounted to a crop sensor like the Canon Rebel XS, the focal length is effectively about 56mm which is pretty close ( a bit narrower) to what our eyes can see. This means that walking around downtown Toronto for some candid street photography will be much easier than before. I used to use the nifty-fifty (50mm lens) when doing street photography and I just found that lens to be a bit too narrow to frame the shots properly especially in crowded places downtown. So here's hoping for an awesome-tastic summer photography awesomeness with this new lens and all my other lenses! Woot!

If you want to see what the lens looks like, check out the "My Equipment" section under the "About Me" tab.

Downtown Toronto
A new set is uploaded in Gello Photography! This time Downtown Toronto is our subject! I have nothing else to say but to click the picture above to see the rest of the collection. Hope you like the pictures! More photos are in the works as I speak and more photos are going to be uploaded in my YouTube channel, flickr, and of course Gello Photography! Until next time!

Some of the cars in the 2011 Canadian International Auto Show
After weeks of delay and after weeks of massive work loads in university (I still have lots ahead), the pictures from the 2011 Canadian International Auto Show are finally uploaded and ready to be seen in this wonderful website! You see the pictures above? That's just a small taste of what I got in store for you. Click the any of the pictures to see the entire collection.

Psst, I'm trying something new this time around. Instead of just showing you a gallery, I posted the pictures as a slideshow so it's more pleasing to watch and more importantly less clicking on your part. So just sit back and enjoy the photos!

February started off with a relatively big bang for the folks at Canon and for those who have been waiting for Canon's new products. Canon announced two new entry-level DSLRs called the Canon EOS Rebel T3i (600D) and the Canon EOS Rebel T3 (1100D). The Canon T3i is an update over the popular T2i released by the same company last year. The T3i inherits the same 18 megapixel crop sensor, DIGIC 4 processor, HD video recording (both 720p and 1080p at various frame rates), and a load of the same stuff from T2i. The new thing for T3i is the new swivelling 1 million dot LCD Display which is similar to the ones found in the Canon 60D. The T3i will be released in March with an MSRP $899.99CAD (body) or $999.99CAD (kit).

The Canon body is the T3 (non-i) which is also called the 1100D. So in a numerical sense, the T3 is an update for Canon's absolute lowest model the Canon EOS Rebel XS (Which happens to be the camera used by yours truly). Canon retains the whole "simple yet powerfull" approach with the T3 body. New in the T3 kit is the new 12.2 megapixel crop sensor which I would guess (I might be wrong) is from the Canon XSi, a DIGIC 4 processor, Canon's new 63-zone metering system (seen in the other cameras in the Canon range), and HD video capability. However, the video recording is limited to 720p which makes sense for a camera that is suppose to be a class lower than the T3i. The T3 will not get swivelling screen from its bigger brother T3i or 60D. But that's what you expect for a camera like this. The T3 will also be released in March alongside the T3i and will sell at an MSRP of $649.99CAD (kit). If you live in Canada, Future Shop will have an exclusive red version of the camera for the same MSRP.

Hello All,

I feel really bad that I wasn't able to update this website at all since September. As much as I would like to, I couldn't find the time to do so because I have a lot of University of work to do. I have new pictures that I have saved somewhere in my computer which is basically pictures that highlight the architecture of University of Toronto. But I still haven't found the time to sit down and actually edit them. Furthermore, the collection is not really done yet because I still want to take more pictures of the campus especially during the night because some of the more classical buildings in the campus actually look dramatic during nightfall. So I am hoping that i will get those photos taken by November; edit and share them to you guys by December of this year. For sure, I'll have something really neat to share with you guys before the year is over, so stay tuned for that =). For now, please take a look at my current collection of galleries and hope you like what I have to offer in this website so far.

Cheers,
Angelo Maralit

Hello all!

Angelo here bringing you a question that's been asked and is still being asked by many photographers and enthusiasts alike: Should you shoot in RAW or JPEG?

Personally, since I'm a busy student and rarely have time to go out and take quality pictures due to my workload, JPEG is the format for me. Since this way, the camera will do all the adjustments for me and I don't have to worry about editing it extensively in let's say Photoshop or Canon Digital Photo Professional suite. Not that I don't edit my photos, I edit most of them it's just that shooting in JPEG is one less problem for me to worry about when you think about the process you have to go through with RAW. Now, before you guys get all excited here, let me say that this is simply my opinion and I do not disagree with using RAW. It's just that JPEG is more convenient for me.

So that's my side of the story, why don't you tell me what you prefer? Would you shoot in RAW or JPEG? Why? Tell me your opinion by commenting on this blog below! =D
